About East Grinstead

Surrounded by some of the finest countryside in the South East of England, the ancient market town of East Grinstead boasts a wealth of architectural heritage and is ideally located between London and Brighton. The picturesque high street boasts a number of historic buildings, hosting various chain and local independent shops, wine bars, coffee shops and pubs.

There’s plenty to do in and around the area, including walks through the beautiful Ashdown Forest, riding the steam trains of the famous Bluebell Railway, and visiting the treasures of the National Trust’s Standen. The Chequer Mead Theatre and Arts Centre is a popular venue for live music, comedy and drama, as well as the leisure centre and playing fields in the centre of the town.

The town is becoming increasingly attractive to commuters travelling to London, thanks to the addition of a new railway station. Positioned just off the M23 and within close proximity of Gatwick Airport, East Grinstead is ideally located close to larger towns, including Tunbridge Wells and Crawley. East Grinstead train station provides direct links into Central London in just under an hour making the town desirable to commuters.
