Autumn Pub Walks

As we settle in for the chilly months ahead, Sundays are becoming the highlight of the week. Picture enjoying a cozy pub lunch, perhaps by a crackling fire, followed by a delightful stroll.

We’re excited to share a selection of our favorite pubs in Sussex and Surrey. These spots are cherished by some of our Move Revolution team, and we invite you to explore them, whether you’re a local resident or just passing through.

The Cat Inn, West Hoathly

The Cat Inn is a charming free house dating back to the 16th century, located in the heart of the Sussex countryside. Perched high on a spur of the Sussex Weald, this village serves as a sanctuary for walkers, conveniently situated on the western edge of the Ashdown Forest. The surrounding area boasts a wide array of attractions and sites to explore, including Wakehurst Place, Borde Hill Gardens, Nymans, The Bluebell Railway, Sheffield Park, Lingfield Race Course, Standen, Pooh Bridge, and the Priest House and Museum right in our village.

With its oak beams and two cozy inglenook fireplaces, the pub offers a warm and inviting atmosphere during the winter months. Their meals are prepared to order, using fresh, seasonal ingredients, and wherever possible, locally sourced produce.

“The food and interiors at The Catt Inn are amazing, definitely worth a visit and a walk around the lovely village after!”

Liam Campbell, Sales Manager

The Grumpy Mole, Oxted

Providing delectable dishes in a stylish yet cozy atmosphere. Food is always prepared fresh on-site, and prioritised using local ingredients and suppliers whenever possible. Nestled in the countryside, you can enjoy a lovely walk through nature or even venture to Staffhurst Wood nearby. With inviting interiors and an open fire, it’s an ideal location for Sunday lunch, à la carte dining, light lunches, or afternoon tea.

“I love to get the table by the fire to eat lunch, followed by a walk down to the woods after.”

Harvey Chowler, Senior Sales Negotiator

The Mint, Banstead

The Mint Inn originally opened as a beer house in 1871, although the land it occupies, known as Mint Farm, may date back to 1325. For over a century, it has welcomed guests as an Inn, offering a charming atmosphere and excellent service. The menu boasts a variety of hearty favourites and classic country pub dishes, along with seasonal selections, all of which are even more delightful when enjoyed in the picturesque gardens or by the warm glow of our crackling log fires.

“I love the interiors of this pub, it’s so chic yet quintessential. There’s a lovely walk you can take on the doorstep!”

Abigail Ramsey, Sales Manager

The Gardeners Arms, Ardingly

Nestled in the heart of the South Downs, directly across from the north gate of the South of England show ground, the Gardeners Arms is a charming traditional pub restaurant that exudes character. Dating back to the 17th Century, it offers a cozy atmosphere during the winter months, featuring classic oak beams and a stunning garden that is occasionally visited by deer, along with their own grapevines!

Whether you’re sharing a glass of wine with a friend or gathering the family for a special Sunday lunch to mark an occasion, you can savour the thoughtfully curated food menus and drinks.

“Make sure to grab one of the tables round the inglenook fireplace! This is a great spot to have lunch if you are visiting Wakehurst!”
