Exclusively Move Revolution – Our Favourite Afternoon Tea’s

Over the summer we’ve been enjoying afternoon tea, we couldn’t resist sharing a few of our favourites that we’ve already tried, and a few we would like to try!

We think you will agree, in matters of tradition, nothing embodies British culture quite like a delightful afternoon tea. When people think of “British cuisine” worldwide, tea and scones are often at the top of the list. Accompanied by finger sandwiches, delicate pastries, and an assortment of jams and clotted cream, the afternoon tea experience is both a culinary delight and a social ritual. It evokes images of elegant tea rooms, bone china teacups, and the gentle hum of conversation among friends.

Did you know that the origins of afternoon tea date back to the early 19th century, attributed to Anna, the Duchess of Bedford, who found herself peckish in the long interval between lunch and dinner. Her solution was to request a tray of tea, bread, butter, and cake be brought to her room in the late afternoon. This practice quickly caught on among her social circle and eventually became a widespread custom. (We are personally fully on board with this custom!)

Today, afternoon tea is as much about the experience as it is about the food. It’s a time to pause, relax, and indulge in the simple pleasure of good company and delicious treats. Whether enjoyed in the opulent surroundings of a grand hotel or the cozy comfort of one’s home, afternoon tea remains a cherished tradition that continues to bring people together, bridging the past and the present in a uniquely British way.

We wanted to share some of our top picks for afternoon tea spots with you.
