Dovers Green Road, Reigate

£1,250,000

The South wing of Hartswood Manor is a grade two listed, 7 bedroom wing built circa 1615. The spacious manor house is set on approximately a 3 acre plot with extensive grounds, including the old stables. This historical home is situated with easy reach of Reigate. No onward chain.

The central portion of the manor house dates from 1615 and it is believed that timbers used date back to 1550. The property is listed Grade 2. Nairn & Pevsner (1962) mention ‘Hartswood Manor, mostly plain three- storey Georgian, but incorporating parts of a gabled and plastered house dated 1615. The property comprises the original core of an Elizabethan manor house of timber frame and later additions of minor wings and a stucco façade to the west elevation and other portions. The windows on this elevation appear to have been altered either in the Georgian or early Victorian times to form a series of windows which match the then fashionable version with graded windows of a proportion and size of a classical standard design standards. The property is accessed via a long private road leading past Reigate Grammar School playing fields and is part of a ground of six houses. The original manor has been split into three properties the South Wing being the largest. The house is in a quiet country location approximately 1.5 miles / 2.5 kms to the south of Reigate, Reigate is a desirable market town that offers many amenities such as shops, bars and restaurants.
