We are all hoping the summer will finally arrive and we will be able to spend time outdoors. Beer gardens have become a hot topic of conversation with some many of our wonderful local pubs creating beautiful outside spaces. Pub or Beer Gardens (originally known as Biergarten in German), initially began in the 18th century! They were developed to brew and keep beer in warmer weather, beer cellars were dug into the earth, chestnut tree’s rose above, and people gathered in-between to drink the fruits of the brewers’ labour. Beer gardens as we know them today, come in all shapes and sizes. From beautiful country pubs set in idyllic rural locations, where you can sit outside and look out on to a fields or a river, to a beer garden squeezed in-between buildings in the middle of a busy city!
This seem the perfect opportunity to share some of our favourite beer gardens throughout Sussex and Surrey – the perfect excuse for you to try for yourself and enjoy!
